Responsibilities

Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.

Make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.

Measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.

Fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and determine material, parts and equipment required.

Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry

Use a variety of hand tools and precision measuring instruments

Read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings

Read standard gauges and other measuring devices

Read, comprehend and write instructions, short correspondence and memos

Learn industry-related software

Mentor and coach other team members in the interpretation of mechanical drawings, standard gages and other Section for measuring devices

Qualifications

Education/Training:

Minimum of 3 years machining experience in the aerospace industry

Thorough Knowledge of:

Machining principles on materials ranging from stainless steel to magnesium.

Machining processes, tools and mathematics.

Safe use of shop equipment, processes and measuring tools

Microsoft Office Basics
