Job Description

The Position

The Quality Advisor will work within the Albemarle Kemerton Lithium refinery to:

  • Ensure the site’s compliance to ISO 9001 and the implemented Quality Management System.

  • Ensure consistent reporting and management of Quality Incidents which occur at site.

  • Support continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.

  • Support the planning and execution of Sustaining Capital Projects at the Kemerton plant and in the Perth office.

  • Act as the Quality Manager’s deputy in his absence.

This will be accomplished through close collaboration with Operations and all relevant departments within Albemarle Kemerton’s organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Management System

  • Maintain Quality Assurance (QA) methods, systems and procedures policies to ensure compliance to ISO 9001 and Albemarle Global policies and procedures.

  • Support and consult Kemerton operations departments to maintain ISO 9001 and QMS compliance as required.

  • Drive continual QMS improvement to ensure that its processes remain fit for purpose and efficient.

Auditing

  • Support the Quality Manager in the development and implementation of the annual audit program.

  • Perform internal audits of Kemerton operations departments and external supplier audits.

  • Support extrinsic (client or certifying body) audits at Albemarle Kemerton.

  • Monitor and support where required) the close-out progress of audit findings and escalate critical delays to the Quality Manager and/or Kemerton line managers.

Continuous Improvement

  • Support the Quality Manager in the continuous improvement of the QMS and Quality methods, processes and tools including control of documents and records relevant to the QMS.

  • Support and consult Kemerton departments in the application of continual improvement methods and tools.

Quality Incidents

  • Ensure that Quality incidents which have occurred at the Kemerton site, are consistently reported and treated.

  • Support root cause analysis and the definition of corrections and corrective actions where required.

  • Support the Quality Manager in the management and resolution of customer complaints.

  • Quality reporting and communication.

  • Report site relevant Quality Objectives and bring critical items (e.g., missed targets) to management attention.

  • Support Quality relevant/specific communication at Kemerton.

Project Quality Management

  • Issue Quality deliverables as required by the project.

  • Review and comment Quality deliverables issued by project suppliers.

  • Manage project Quality verification activities.

  • Support the assembly of project as-built documentation and data record books

Quality Training

  • Support the Quality Manager in the preparation and provision of Quality relevant training to Kemerton staff.

  • Monitor Quality training status of Kemerton staff.

Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements

Quality Specific and Technical Experience

  • Very good knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.

  • Ability to understand product and process operating principles, control points, methods, process interactions.

  • In-depth knowledge of document control principles, tools and workflows and ability to define and improve those.

  • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to analyse complex systems, draw conclusions based on facts. Good proficiency in troubleshooting operational issues and debottlenecking.

Soft Skills

  • Organizational skills, critical thinking skills and process oriented.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all stakeholders and team members.

  • Good interpersonal skills require active listening, honest and frequent feedback, and a positive attitude.

  • Ability to work with team members to achieve team objectives. Team success will depend on the ability to share technical information, ideas, and experiences to build a strong knowledge base.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and interact with plant and business personnel.

  • Ability to plan daily activities, manage priorities, and eliminate non-value-added activities. Respect of projects milestones.

  • Openness to new ideas, new ways of working and new technologies, and implementation of innovative solutions.

  • Good presentation skills and confidence to present to a crowd of up to 50 people.

Education / Qualification Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management or similar

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a Quality Assurance role.

  • Lead or Internal Auditor Qualification.

  • Continual Improvement Qualifications, such as Lean Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
