Industrial Technician (2nd Shift)

Job Description:

Under direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Industrial Technician repairs and performs preventative maintenance on Vermont Creamery?s equipment and the overall facility. Main duties include installing, maintaining, repairing and upgrading machinery, mechanical and production equipment.


Slightly flexible, approx. 3:00pm-11:30pm




+ High School Diploma / GED Required

+ 2-Year Technical Degree preferred OR High School Diploma plus 5 years of related experience

+ Must be proficient in PLC based technology.

+ Must be proficient in the Microsoft suite.

+ Must be agile and able to shift gracefully when priorities change.

+ Troubleshoots and performs all necessary repairs to ensure production, quality, and operational properties.

+ Works with maintenance, other Creamery employees, and outside contractors.

+ Performs minor and major maintenance on machinery, dismantles defective machines and equipment, and installs new or repaired parts; capable of computer PLC based trouble-shooting and implementing corrective measures.

+ Follows checks list for preventive maintenance program, maintains records and keeps manuals up-to-date and organized

+ Responds to emergency maintenance.

+ Assists the Maintenance Specialist with vendors to obtain quotes and places purchase orders on parts and equipment.

+ Assists in company new equipment design, purchase and installation.

+ Assists in company plan expansion and renovation projects.

+ Maintains facility in a safe, environmentally-sound manner, while complying with VOSHA and other standards.

+ Capability to read and understand equipment manuals, documents, and PLC based programs (i.e. Allen Bradley).

+ Performs and oversees preventative, predictive maintenance and sets up re-occurring requirements.

+ Troubleshoots and performs all necessary repairs on time for machinery and equipment,

+ Assists in supervision of maintenance staff and contractors effectively.

+ Participates effectively in efficiency and optimization programs.


+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving parts and high, precarious places, is regularly exposed to vibration, and frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, wet and/or humid conditions, risk of electrical shock, and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme cold and heat.

+ While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to reach, handle or feel, talk, and hear

+ While performing the duties of this job, the individual is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

+ Ability to occasionally lift a minimum of 25 lbs and 26- 150 lbs with assistance of equipment.

+ Use of safety glasses and steel toed shoes.


Working in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, you will be walking, standing and engaging in movement throughout the day, and occasionally to frequently be required to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
