Health Advocates Network Phlebotomy Technician Long Term Care in Waynesville, Missouri

Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Phlebotomy Technician – Long Term Care to work at a facility in Waynesville , MO. These are registry positions with our company.

Shift: Variable

Rate: $20.00/hr.

Description: Position is a 13-week contract with the possibility of an extension based on demand, performance, and attendance. Must have 1 year of hospital experience as a phlebotomist. A Nationally Phlebotomy certification is required NHA, ASCP, AMT. Along with a BLS through AHA or ARC.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a hospital setting as a Phlebotomy Tech

  • Must be able to travel to different locations/States (TDY)

  • A valid and current BLS card (American Heart Association or client)

  • Must have a clear license in the state, appropriate state, if their licensed in another state as well we have to verify licensure in any state that they are licensed. They have to have a clear license in any state they have been licensed

Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Performing blood collection using a variety of phlebotomy techniques including vacutainer systems, syringe, butterfly, and/or capillary finger sticks;

  • Collecting urine specimens and cultures in a manner that preserves the integrity of sample;

  • Following proper protocol for specialty blood draws;

  • Evaluating the suitability of specimens;

  • Preparing electronic requisitions for samples to be sent to the reference laboratories;

  • Identifying inpatients and outpatients for whom laboratory tests have been ordered, and prints labels for appropriate blood samples;

  • Understanding and utilizing information resource technology (i.e. computers, printers, label printers, copy machines, phones, fax machines, various computer information packages, etc.);

  • Providing education to patients for proper collection techniques of urine, stool, or other fluid collections;

  • Handling conflict and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately;

  • Identifying patients and ensuring proper sample procurement and specimen labeling;

  • Observing and reporting any physical or mental changes during patient blood draws;

  • Preparing samples for testing to include labeling, centrifugation, decanting and aliquoting, etc.;

  • Adhering to all universal precautions, infection control, and safety regulations associated with phlebotomy;

  • Maintaining operational and quality control logs, records, and worksheets;

  • Identifying unusual test results or discrepancies/conditions that can lead to erroneous results; and

  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
