Overview of the role:

Hartford Funds’ Operations has the responsibility for transfer agency oversight, service operations as well as serving as the operational liaison for our key distribution partners.

This role will support the team’s efforts to provide transfer agency and service operations for Hartford Funds and Hartford 529 Plans and support our main points of contact with our service providers and firms. This is individual will work closely with the operations team and have contact with various internal departments including compliance, legal, product, finance, fund treasury, marketing, and sales, assisting in the execution of various deliverables, both internal and external. This position will also support project management for these related initiatives.

Please note: Summer Internship roles at Hartford Funds will adhere to our hybrid structure of working remotely on Mondays and Fridays, and working out of our Wayne, PA office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Reliable transportation on in-office days is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the team in implementing initiatives such as new fund launches, name changes, mergers or liquidations; dealer or firm-initiated requests such as firm processing changes or fund adds

  • Assist in preparing and coordinating regulatory and non-regulatory shareholder mailings and notifications to financial intermediaries in conjunction with fund changes or corporate actions

  • Assist in management of the Dealer Support mailbox, communicating with back offices, internal stakeholders, and our transfer agents

  • Perform dealer agreement maintenance. All dealer agreements are reviewed and administered through the team and require the ability to understand various agreements, terms, and fee arrangements

  • Prepare monthly or ad hoc reporting by request

Qualifications

  • Coursework working towards bachelor’s degree in business or economics or related major

  • Mutual Fund, 529, ETF or Tender Fund product/industry knowledge a plus

  • Ability to work in a deadline oriented and fast paced environment with strong organizational and time management skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to quickly learn product lines, procedures and workflows

  • Ability to work within a team or independently; thinks critically by gathering and investigating relevant information

  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; listens effectively and clarifies information

  • Model ethical behavior and execute job responsibilities in accordance with Hartford Funds core values, ethics, and information protection policies

  • Must possess a high degree of initiative and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Be part of a high performing team that collaborates on challenges, shares successes, and embraces change.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products required; experience with Microsoft Copilot a plus

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
