Generac Power Systems Internal Communications Specialist in Waukesha, Wisconsin

The Internal Communications Specialist works as an integral part of the corporate communications team to develop and execute internal communication programs including editorial coordination, communication channel management, writing, editing, event support, and other tasks to engage and inform employees. You will partner with stakeholders from across the organization to develop communication plans and content in support of the company’s strategy, culture and goals. The work of this role will be leveraged across communications channels including email, intranet, video, digital signage, podcasts and more.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit and distribute content for various internal communication vehicles including intranet, digital signage, newsletters, communication boards and other channels

  • Partner with creative marketing team to oversee the development of visual and printed communications in support of internal campaigns

  • Build and manage relationships with internal stakeholders to understand unique communication needs and recommend plans to support effective communications

  • Craft and execute strategic internal communication plans for programs, policies, changes and initiatives

  • Support the planning and execution of Town Hall Meetings, including assisting with presentation development

  • Engage key stakeholders (including IT, HR Shared Services, Marketing, Manufacturing, etc.) as needed on strategic communications project planning to ensure effective planning and execution

  • Ensure internal communications are timely, consistent, and aligned with strategic messaging and branding, including performing regular audits of our standard processes and tools for alignment

  • Assist in the integration of communication framework and tools at new facilities, including subsidiaries, manufacturing plants, and global locations

  • Support management of internal communication systems and platforms

  • Monitor adoption of communications tools, looking for enhancement opportunities

  • Apply new communications tools and technologies as directed to maximize efficiency and impact of content

  • Not afraid to challenge the status quo and recommend new ways of delivering internal comms

  • Bring creativity, fun and passion for internal communications to the job everyday

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field

  • 3 years of experience in internal communications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a global environment with a corporate and/or manufacturing background is a plus.

  • Experience working with internal email platforms / content management systems preferred

  • Experience with SharePoint, WordPress, etc.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, PowerPoint, Excel

  • Ability to successfully work autonomously and simultaneously with diverse team members on multiple projects at a time

  • Excellent organization and project management skills.

  • Proven history of developing and enhancing new and existing communications pathways

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong attention to detail

  • Results-oriented team player with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships with peers, cross-functional teams, vendors and leaders

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple projects and competing priorities

  • Ability to clearly document and train on communication processes and procedures

  • Knowledge of AP Style

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
