Pay Range
$112,000.00-$154,000.00 Annual
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
The Senior Research Engineer, I&C is responsible for the development of new glass and synthetic nonwoven products and processes for Johns Manville which will lead to increased sales and will strengthen JM's competitive advantage. The position is in Johns Manville Engineered Products' Innovation & Commercial team. The new team member will work cross-functionally with Product Management, Commercial and Research & Development teams to support new product development, commercialization and monitoring of new products, primarily in North America.
Your Day to Day:
- Leading moderate to long-term product development projects resulting in moderate to significant business advantages for JM. This includes conducting research, designing and running pilot/plant trials, providing support to plant and production, qualifying products, and performing project management functions
- Developing patents, trade secrets and/or other intellectual property that provides strategic business advantages for JM
- Leading new product commercialization through multi-stage development, including code approval, plant trials, product specifications and transition to operations
- Interacting with customers and providing voice of the customer feedback to the team
- Performing other related duties assigned may be required
What You Bring to the Team:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of engineering of science and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience in the materials or nonwovens industry, preferably in wet laid nonwovens and related processes
Master's degree or PhD preferred
In-depth knowledge of statistics, proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) and ability to make data-driven decisions and recommendations
Ability to make compelling cases for technical recommendations to a business
Ability to apply technical knowledge to choose alternatives and to modify methods, designs, and general practices
Communication skills - interpersonal, verbal, written and presentations
Proven project management (i.e., Stage-Gate ™) and leadership skills
Proven analytical and quality improvement
