Pay Range $22.11-$35.37*

North Country Orthopaedic Group – Triage LPN - Full Time Day Shift– Req 7160

The Triage LPN must demonstrate proficiency in general medical terminology and must be able to work in a fast paced medical office. The Triage LPN must have the ability to multitask and should be a customer-friendly, positive, self-motivated individual who is willing to work in a team atmosphere. The Triage LPN must be able to handle multi-telephone lines with finesse and is expected to act professionally at all times.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma

  • Medical Terminology

  • Basic Computer and multi-line telephone skills

  • Good communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work in a fast pace, team-based, multi-skilled work environment

  • Enjoy working with the public

Working Relationships-Internal and External:

The Triage LPN is expected to maintain a productive relationship with the Clinical Operations Manager as well as with the physician, manager and co-worker. The Triage LPN must exhibit a customer-friendly demeanor at all times and must have the ability to keep their composure during difficult situations.

Job Duties:

  • Triage patient telephone calls for difficulties, prescriptions, etc.

  • Retrieve patient charts and get prescriptions signed by the appropriate provider. Print prescription and fax or call it into the corresponding patient pharmacy. If needed, mail prescription to pharmacy. Finally record prescription in patient’s chart.

  • Assist “Walk-in” patients.

  • Schedule any tests requested by a provider, e.g. MRIs, bone scans, etc. After scheduling the test contact the patient with appointment, date, time, and directions.

  • Call referrals in to other physician offices for our providers and patients.

  • Complete paperwork needed for renewal of physical therapy.

  • Responsible for reviewing incoming faxes and taking responsibility for processing requests in a timely manner.

  • Responsible for contacting patients with physician instructions regarding patient care.

  • Responsible for faxing all signed and directive correspondence to physical therapy, Public Health and or all agencies as directed by a NCOG physician for a NCOG patient.

  • Responsible for contacting the on-call physician for emergencies, e.g. instances when one NCOG physician requests the assistance of another; the emergency room or operating room is trying to locate a physician

  • Responsible for communicating with NCOG physicians regarding consults requested by other area physicians.

  • Assist in the protocol for Public Health referrals.

  • Cover the surgery scheduling office during breaks, lunch, and vacations or as otherwise directed by the Clinical Operations Manager.

  • Responsible for stocking necessary paperwork for the position in an organized manner.

  • Perform other clerical duties as requested by the Clinical Operations Manager.

  • When requested, work overtime and or different shifts.

  • Carry out other duties as requested by theClinical Operations Manager or any other group manager, administrator or physician.

  • Participate as a team member within the department and group.
