Victims Assistance Center Crisis Services Advocate in Watertown, New York

Job Summary: The Crisis Services Advocate holds a pivotal role within the Victims Assistance Center, providing crisis services, intervention, and resources to victims. This position requires a flexible schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage, including responsibilities during days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.Job Duties and Responsibilities:· Respond to crisis calls in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies.· Provide comprehensive advocacy services, including crisis intervention, counseling, and assistance with New York State Office of Victim Services compensation applications.· Inform clients about their legal rights at the time of the incident.· Arrange transportation for clients to appropriate destinations.· Initiate the intake process for clients entering the Residential Facility.· Provide complete orientation to Residential Facility for new clients.· Assist in client intake procedures and provide Hotline coverage, as necessary.· Maintain accurate and timely client progress notes and information in case records.· Keep statistical data as required for reporting purposes.· Ensure the safety and security of Residential Facility residents.· Maintain cleanliness of the Residential Facility according to agency standards and New York State regulations.· Monitor client activities and report as necessary to the Crisis Services Supervisor and other Advocates.· Ensure that Facility residents observe all Residential Facility guidelines and regulations.· Collaborate with law enforcement, the Criminal Justice system, and Social Services to facilitate seamless client support.· Report Residential Facility needs to the Crisis Services Supervisor regularly.· Assumes other related duties, as assigned.Job Requirements:· Must exercise a non-judgmental, client-centered approach in working with clients.· Must have knowledge of child development, crisis intervention and counseling techniques.· Must have a valid Driver's License with good driving record and have access to a reliable, insured, vehicle.· Must have the ability to follow oral and written directions.· Must possess familiarity of community resources.· Must be able to be flexible with own work schedule to meet program and coverage needs.· Must be organized, resourceful, flexible, have good assessment skills, and able to utilize good independent judgment in dealing with situations that arise.Qualifications:· High School Diploma/GED required; and· Experience in human services, victim’s services issues, criminal justice or related fields preferred.· Individuals with lived experience are encouraged to apply.· Strong organizational and communication skills.Send resume and cover letter to: Victims Assistance Center of Jefferson County, Inc., 418 Washington Street., Watertown, N.Y. 13601 or fax to 315-782-3760.
