Your Opportunity

The role of a Senior Civil Designer is to work closely with the Project Engineer/Project Manager and be part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the project. You will perform a variety of tasks which will include the preparation of drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D and various calculations for land development projects.

As a Senior Civil Designer, you will perform various aspects of civil engineering assignments such as grading, servicing, stormwater management, sediment and erosion control, and may also assist in quantity takeoffs, preparation of cost estimates and putting together specifications for projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performs civil design using knowledge of relevant software programs.

  • Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the completion of the project under the direction of the Project Manager/Engineer.

  • Complete the functional and detailed design of the site, grading, servicing and water/wastewater layout on projects, including preparation of functional servicing reports.

  • Performs calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.

  • Assists with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.

  • Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.

  • Assists in interpretation and verifying compliance with applicable codes engineering standards and practices.

  • Performs a variety of tasks which may include analyzing proposed project solutions to ensure design integrity, reliability, resource efficiently and cost effectiveness.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills are a requirement.

  • Strong understanding of concepts of relevant areas of civil engineering design and municipal standards.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Strong understanding of civil engineering concepts (i.e. grading, servicing, road profile design, storm and sanitary sewer design sheets, etc.) and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.

  • Ability to interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material.

  • Requires in-depth understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team.

Education and Experience

  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate in Civil Engineering or related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Civil Designer role working with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
