Manulife Counsel, Manulife Bank & Canada Law in Waterloo, Ontario

Manulife is looking for a lawyer to join our Manulife Bank and Canada Law Legal Team. You will have the opportunity to support Manulife’s businesses across Canada. Above all, you’ll work with other Manulife teams and executives to support our business objectives in a collaborative and diverse environment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Advising on impacts of laws across the country with a focus on our banking and trust businesses,

  • Supporting the development of digital-focused and customer centric financial products,

  • Managing legal, regulatory and compliance risk – considering our unique business needs and innovative legal solutions,

  • Advising on litigation risks and litigation management,

  • Drafting and negotiating key strategic contracts,

  • Supporting Manulife Bank’s Corporate Secretary and advising on corporate governance for other Manulife subsidiaries in Canada,

  • Advising on banking, fintech, corporate commercial, cyber, digital, privacy and technology law.

Required Qualifications:

  • You have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in corporate law or commercial litigation in private practice or in-house. Experience or demonstrated interest in banking and/or financial services law is an asset

  • Ability to work in English and French is an asset

  • Licensed to Practice Law in Canada

Location: Hybrid – 3 days a week in our Toronto, Montreal or Waterloo offices.

Salary range is expected to be between

$114,730.00 CAD - $213,070.00 CAD
