Overview

The Child Development Division (CDD) is excited to be hiring a Family Engagement Coordinator!

\ The Family Engagement Coordinator works within CDD\'s Children\'s Integrated Services (CIS) Team. CIS supports and oversees the delivery of early intervention and prevention services that help ensure the healthy development and well-being of Vermont\'s children.\ This position is categorically responsible for:\ Providing technical assistance to the field to ensure that CIS services and activities are family-focused and meet federal requirements\ Lead and implement the processes that the CIS team uses to collect feedback on CIS services from Vermont families\ Supporting and facilitating the Vermont Interagency Coordinating Council (VICC).\ CDD is based out of the Waterbury State Office Complex in Waterbury, Vermont. Staff are currently expected to be on site at least one day per week.

\ Major Job Duties

Facilitate and support the Vermont Interagency Coordinating Council (VICC), a federally mandated advisory body, including planning and facilitating meetings, managing gubernatorial applications and membership, and onboarding new members\ Provide technical assistance, subject matter expertise, and training to field-based CIS providers to engage families in service planning and delivery, including as required in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA Part C) Federal State Systemic Improvement Plan (SSIP)\ Collaborate with CIS team members to ensure that family voice is represented in state-level policy and program development, implementation, and oversight\ Explore options for a statewide CIS Family Engagement model\ Lead distribution and analysis of the annual CIS Early Intervention Family Survey, including leading communications to families, providing technical assistance to the field as needed, analyzing survey responses, and strategically applying survey to state-level programmatic goals.\ Coordinate and facilitate activities for parents of young children with special needs to help improve the state\'s supports for those children and families\ Develop collaborative relationships with state and local CIS family engagement partners\ Keep the Child Development Division and Children\'s Integrated Services informed on challenges facing families with young children\ Develop and maintain a directory of early childhood statewide resources to share with parents and families\ Prepare and deliver presentations to various audiences, including families\ Stay current on the latest best practices research in Early Intervention, home visiting, and family engagement practices

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in office settings with field travel being necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Although duties normally occur within a regular weekday schedule, there are times that work occurs on evenings or weekends. Considerable tact is required for dealing with district staff and external contractors. Some pressure from deadlines may be experienced. Strong adversarial opinions and positions may be present at meetings.
