Overview

Be part of a creative high energy team for the Department of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living (DAIL) whose mission is to make Vermont the best state in which to grow old or live with a disability with dignity, respect and independence. This position is the Outcomes Specialist for DAILs Adult Services Division, Quality Management Unit and is responsible for developing and assisting with desk reviews, independent special topic reviews, data reporting, and outreach and technical assistance to service providers. In this role, the successful candidate will act as team lead for statutory requirements which requires considerable research and interpretation of program, State and Federal compliance standards. Candidates should have strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to work on multiple activities. Must be able to communicate and interact directly with internal and external stakeholders and staff with varying degrees of system knowledge and skill sets as well as varying levels of authority.

The successful candidate will support over 45 agencies and programs providing services to older Vermonters and adults with disabilities. This position requires extensive interaction with individuals with disabilities, aging adults and their families, state agencies, community service providers, workforce administration, contractors, and other organizations. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule, based on the needs of the Department, the candidate should expect some in person meetings and field work. The DAIL Adult Services Division values diversity, equity and inclusion of our staff. Experience with auditing, compliance and interpretation of state and federal regulations preferred.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed both in a standard office setting and in the field for which private means of transportation should be available. Incumbents are subject to a variety of stressful situations while evaluating and improving support services for people with disabilities and aging adults. Work also involves regular interaction with provider and departmental leadership. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
