WASHINGTON GREENE COUNTY JOB TRAINING AGENCY, INC. Fiscal Clerk in Washington, Pennsylvania

*General Definition:  *This is entry level fiscal management work in the administration of federal and state funded programs.  Work includes the preparation of financial reports and cost accounting.  Work involves applying generally accepted accounting principles and an understanding of cost principles for funded programs.   

Reports to: President/CFO & Fiscal Specialists

Typical Examples of Work:

  1. Daily activities- accounts receivable; accounts payable; general ledger; data entry; bookkeeping; filing
  2. Period end procedures- journal entries and adjustments; fiscal reporting
  3. Prepare purchase orders and account reconciliation.
  4. Perform fund accounting.
  5. Assist with monthly financial and grant reporting as needed
  6. Audit/Monitor- preparation for regular audit and regular monitoring visits as needed
  7. Compare expenditures with the budget and report on them.
  8. Accounts receivable.
  9. Performs related work as required as assigned by the Fiscal Specialist and/or President/CFO

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  2. Knowledge of governmental accounting, and grant funding/reporting
  3. Ability to use accounting software.
  4. Excellent math skills
  5. Proficient in accounting and accounts payable/accounts receivable
  6. Positive attitude
  7. Professional demeanor
  8. Ability to multi-task
  9. Ability to work well and communicate with others
  10. Attention to detail

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Education focus in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Preferably a combination 4 years education and/or experience in a related field.
