The overall purpose of this position, i.e., what it accomplishes at Perdue and/or why it exists is:

The purpose of a Maintenance Mechanic "C" is to maintain, diagnose, repair, rebuild, adjust, perform preventative maintenance and install equipment within and around the facilities so as to keep the production operational and have zero loss of production chargeable to maintenance. Position is currently on 3rd Shift.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable of and able to perform all the tasks required for a Maintenance Mechanic "C".

  • Provide own personal hand tools needed to safely perform the job and have a storage box to store (see list of tools required on page three).

  • Provide a means of notification/communication during non-working hours for emergencies. Respond to emergency calls within thirty (30) minutes.

  • Ensure shop and surrounding areas are kept clean by the removal of all debris in work areas, workbenches, break rooms, all floors and the same are free of liquids, oils and dirt.

  • Ensure a safe working environment by elimination of unsafe act/s or condition/s.

  • Must be proficient in at least six (6) of the following areas:

  • Reading Blueprints/Schematics

  • Cut and weld (Oxygen, Acetylene and Aluminum) all types of metals

  • Hydraulics

  • Pumps

  • Electrical wiring and motors **

  • Filter systems

  • Pipe fitting/plumbing**

  • Operation of shop equipment**

  • Millwright

  • Sheet metal fabrication

  • Refrigeration systems

  • Pneumatics

  • Carpentry

  • Certified electrician

Proficiency will be determined by management and plant engineer.

Preferred Experience:

Prefer knowledge of hydraulic systems, conveyor systems and an aptitude for industrial machinery. Must have a valid Indiana Driver's License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record.

Preferred Education:

Strong reading, communication math, writing, and analytical skills are required. High School Diploma or GED equivalent and two years of technical college preferred.
