HarmonyTech, Inc. is looking for an experienced Sybase ASE Database Administrator. You will be required to install and maintain the database software in Azure Gov Cloud, create/execute DDL scripts, set up user accounts, create backups, and regularly maintain the database security. You will also be responsible in maintaining the DR database in Azure Gov Cloud.

The work shall be performed at HarmonyTech’s Fairfax VA location and/or client’s location, in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

• Perform Sybase ASE Database installation in Azure Gov Cloud. Perform database configuration, patching and version upgrades

• Create and maintain Database objects using DDL scripts

• Perform database back-up and restore activities as needed

• Create and maintain a DR database in Azure Gov Cloud. Configure and maintain Sybase Replication Server to create a hot backup of the primary database.

• Support Sybase ASE database migration from on-premises to Azure Gov Cloud

• Monitor database performance and remediate performance issues and system failures. Perform root cause analysis.

• Provide support to application developers during migration to Azure Gov Cloud. Participate in application testing and support issue resolution during and after migration.

• Provide O&M support for Sybase ASE database in multiple lower and the production environment

• Communicate and coordinate with application developers and other IT support teams to provide timely responses for critical requests.

• Perform daily monitoring of Database infrastructure for Healthcheck, Application and Replication Alerts.

• Responsible for Database User Provisioning.

• Responsible for Sybase ASE database license management

• Participate in ATO process for the migrated databases and applications. Implement the required security controls.

• Adhere to client’s change management procedures.

Requirements:

• At least twelve (12) years of professional work experience as Database Administrator required, out of which at least five (5) years on Sybase ASE Database

• Experience with Sybase Replication server is a must. Experience with other replication technologies such as Oracle Golden Gate is a plus.

• Experience in setting up and maintaining DR database is a must

• Experience in creating and maintaining DDL scripts is a must. Excellent SQL DML skills required.

• At least two (2) years of experience with Azure cloud as a DBA is required

• Experience with database migration is a must

• Experience in managing databases on Linux and Windows required

• Experience with ATO process is a plus

• Knowledge and experience in Database Performance Testing and Tuning is a must.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

Education:

Bachelor’s in computer science or related field of study, required
