Robert Half Staff Accountant in Washington, District Of Columbia

Description We are searching for a dedicated Accounting Specialist in Washington, District of Columbia. This role will primarily focus on HUD reporting, specifically in relation to operating subsidies, utilities, and rentals. The specialist will be tasked with extracting and interpreting relevant data, ensuring compliance with public housing regulations, and generating comprehensive financial reports. This position offers a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate HUD reporting, with a focus on operating subsidies, utilities, and rentals

• Extract and interpret financial data using Excel

• Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations pertaining to public housing

• Generate comprehensive financial reports from the Yardi system

• Occasionally perform GL entries (excluding monthly closing)

• Contribute to the creation of reports from the Yardi system

• Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, Journal Entries, Month End Close, Yardi, Yardi Software, Excel Formulas, Microsoft Excel, VLOOKUP, Pivot Table, HUD, Residential Property Management

• Handle responsibilities without the requirement of monthly closing. Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with a strong understanding of Excel formulas, VLOOKUP, and Pivot Table functionalities.

• Experience with Yardi and Yardi Software is required.

• Demonstrated ability to handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations.

• Familiarity with Bank Reconciliations and Journal Entries.

• Ability to manage Month End Close procedures efficiently.

• Knowledge of HUD regulations and Residential Property Management is beneficial.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must demonstrate ethical behavior and business practices.

• The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.

• High level of integrity, dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a system of policies, records, and reports.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

• CPA or other related certification would be considered a plus.
