We are seeking a Senior WordPress Engineer to lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of a delivery framework for migrating various websites to WordPress (Gutenberg). As a team leader, you will blend design and programming disciplines to implement migrations, enhance features, and maintain multiple custom frameworks, ensuring application accessibility and performance. You will closely interface with existing teams to optimize site applications.

  Responsibilities:

• Contribute to “scope of build” discussions with development team, project managers, designers, and other developers.

• Integrate with third-party APIs and customize WordPress to support specific functionality.

• Support current client websites.

• Document plugins, new code, theme, and plugin modifications.

• Enhance personal and team expertise through training, exploration, and prospecting.

• Produce new user-facing features.

• Build reusable code and libraries.

• Optimize applications for performance and scalability.

• Deliver functional, testable code on or before due dates.

• Collaborate with team members and stakeholders using Agile methodologies.

  Skills and Requirements:

• Strong understanding of WordPress APIs, theme hierarchy, and custom Gutenberg block development.

• Experience in migrating websites to WordPress (Gutenberg) is highly desired.

• Proficient in WordPress theme and block accessibility.

• Expertise in HTML5, CSS3, Sass, JavaScript, jQuery, React (Gutenberg), ES6+.

• Proficient in MySQL.

• Strong understanding of version control tools, such as Git.

• Proficiency with modern team and project management tools like Jira and Slack.

• Excellent documentation skills.

• Knowledge of front-end testing and tooling.

• Understanding of npm task runners such as WebPack.

• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a security clearance.

• Understanding of Python classes and development.

  Bonus Experience:

• WP CLI experience.

• WP VIP experience (Docker / WP VIP CLI).

• Python experience for data extraction and migration to Gutenberg.
