Google Senior Manager, YouTube Business Public Policy, Government Affairs and Public Policy in Washington, District Of Columbia

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 14 years of experience working on technology and media related policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, or relevant industry associations.

  • Experience working with product and business teams

  • Experience with copyright, AI or the news media landscape.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience advising and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver an exceptional work product.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging public policy trends relating to online content platforms and digital media.

  • Ability to operate proactively in a fluid environment and a track record of executing cross-functional projects.

  • Ability to exercise good decision-making in a fluid environment.

  • Excellent investigative skills, including in assessing and negotiating regulatory or legislative proposals and texts.

As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. YouTube’s Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with government officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. While we focus on issues affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect. Within GAPP, the Product and Business Policy Team drives analysis and outcomes of global regulatory proposals in support of product and business goals and acts as trusted subject matter experts and advisors to support external strategy, inform product and business roadmaps, and guide internal decision-making and drives proactive initiatives to move our public policy, business, and product goals forward.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $221,000-$314,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Help teams anticipate and define government affairs and policy issues and craft custom solutions by researching and assessing varied approaches, leveraging new ideas.

  • Advise C-Level executives on critical issues and manage the development and execution of policy strategy that have a direct impact on the future direction of government and policy programs at YouTube.

  • Lead the integration of cross-functional or cross-organizational program timelines, drive program improvements and recommendations, and define operational goals and objectives.

  • Lead process improvements, using expertise from inside and outside YouTube to influence application of concepts to new areas and issues conventional wisdom and existing models.
