Position Overview:

The senior director of Health Policy will play a critical role in advancing the Chamber’s mission to promote resilient health care systems. This position is pivotal in establishing and advancing policy positions related to the domestic health-related workstreams represented by the Chamber, including access and benefits, insurance, and employee welfare. The ideal candidate will strategically manage advocacy efforts, expand membership, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the domestic Health Policy team. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned health policy expert to make a meaningful impact on a significant scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and advocate well-reasoned policy positions on health issues, including access and benefits, insurance, and employee welfare.

  • Create and execute advocacy strategies to support the Chamber’s agenda.

  • Supervise staff and consultants who support the Chamber’s Health Policy team, ensuring effective execution of initiatives.

  • Produce a variety of materials, including op-eds, issue updates, testimony, and analyses.

  • Oversee research projects to provide data-driven insights into domestic health policy.

  • Drive media engagement by participating in interviews, speaking at public events, and hosting government officials to raise awareness of Chamber initiatives.

  • Manage relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including industry groups, companies, government agencies, think tanks, business associations and policymakers, to advance the Chamber’s health agenda.

  • Represent the Chamber by engaging with government officials, media, stakeholders, and supporters of the Chamber’s health agenda.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience commensurate with the role.

  • Experience working on Capitol Hill, within a government agency, or at a trade association preferred.

  • Advanced degree in public health, health policy, or a related field preferred.

  • Substantive experience in health policy development, advocacy, and strategic planning.

  • A comprehensive understanding of employer-related health policy issues.

  • Proven ability to manage diverse teams and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex policy issues to diverse audiences.

  • A demonstrated track record of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry leaders, and health organizations.

  • Experience in media engagement and public speaking.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.

    The salary range for this position is $125,537.00 to $157,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
