Responsibilities As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Ensure that all information and materials prepared and released accurately reflect the policies, views, and program initiatives of the Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), U.S. Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Department of Homeland Security (DHS); Establish and maintain effective working relationships with national and international media representatives; and Speak for HSI and ICE in assigned program area to representatives of the national and international media, and states publicly and "on the record" HSI's and ICE's position on sensitive and controversial matters. You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Preparing, coordinating, and editing feature articles and publications that convey information to employees as well as the public and specialized target groups relating to an Agency's programs, objectives, and mission; Advising on potential media and public reaction to proposed policies and programs; Developing and writing information material designed to reach local, national, and/or international audiences through news media, such as wire service, radio, television, newspaper, the internet, etc. for an Agency; Managing a public affairs and digital information program and its procedures governing information dissemination via social media functions.
