The Red Gate Group is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to support the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in JBAB, DC or Reston, VA. In this role, you will provide advanced systems engineering expertise to design, implement, and maintain complex technical environments. You will play a critical role in delivering innovative solutions, optimizing system performance, and ensuring the success of mission-critical operations. This position offers the opportunity to shape emerging technical solutions while supporting national security initiatives.

We are seeking a highly motivated systems engineering professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong background in developing and managing advanced technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

System Design & Engineering:

  • Design, evaluate, and configure Application Performance Monitoring tools to ensure system availability and optimal performance.

  • Architect and implement secure solutions for data exchange, integration, and single sign-on capabilities within classified environments.

  • Manage and maintain infrastructure components, including S3 Buckets, Load Balancers, Auto-Scaling, and CloudFormation scripts.

System Administration & Automation:

  • Perform system installations, patching, security compliance, and regular system maintenance across development, testing, and production environments.

  • Automate manual tasks using tools like Chef, Ansible, and scripting languages to enhance efficiency and reliability.

  • Ensure systems meet ICD503 accreditation requirements and perform IAVA security patching.

Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Monitor and optimize computing resources to improve system performance and cost efficiency.

  • Develop automated scripts for deployment, system monitoring, and performance tracking.

  • Provide comprehensive system administration support, including user account management and technical issue resolution.

Documentation & Support:

  • Create and maintain technical documentation for system configurations, scripts, and standard operating procedures.

  • Respond to user support requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems, providing timely and effective assistance.

  • Report on project progress, identify risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI w/ CI Poly

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field (or 4+ years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree)

  • 10+ years of technical experience in system analysis, design, and testing of complex systems

  • Proven expertise in systems automation, cloud infrastructure, and performance monitoring

  • Experience managing systems through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and preparing systems for ICD503 accreditation

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with system lifecycle management

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Collibra Platform and associated services

  • Master’s degree or advanced training in Information Technology

  • Experience with application lifecycle management and IAVA patching

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical requirements into practical solutions

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing technical guidance
