U.S. Secret Service Intelligence Research Specialist (Protective) in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary Joining the Secret Service, Office of Strategic Intelligence and Information, Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division will allow you to utilize knowledge, judgment and experience to support the internal mission. Responsibilities The selectee will serve as an Intelligence Research Specialist (Protective) in the Protective Intelligence and Assessmet Division. Typical work assignments include: Performing open source intelligence research to identify threats and provide situationaln awareness for protective operations. Conducting additional research as needed to clarify or supplement information to be used in protective intelligence products. Providing and coordinating open source support for presidential, vice presidential, and other protected persons' travel and for National Special Security Events. Supporting an intelligence coordinator at domestic or foreign command post sites to provide intelligence support to Special Agents prior to and during the visit of a protected person. Depending on the branch placement, the employee will be directly engaged with issues pertaining to: Hostile/Unusual Interest Threats, Transnational Terror Group Threats, Domestic Terror Group Threats, Counterintelligence Threats, Cyber Threats, and/or Open Source Threats. Qualifications Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below Minimum Qualifications: You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $68,405.00) if you possess one of the following: Applicant must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Reviewing intelligence information; Providing assistance to identify behaviors of interest or trends; and Providing reports to managers to ensure they remain informed. OR You have successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or (two) 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related at an accredited college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) to support your claim. OR You have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (less than two years) that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. NOTE: Only graduate education in excess of one year (generally 18 semester hours) may be used in this calculation. You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (official or unofficial) and your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet the experience, otherwise you will be found ineligible. You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary 82,764.00) if you possess one of the following: Applicant must possess one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Conducting research to aid in identifying trends or threats; Integrating intelligence data with other sources to generate coherent analysis; and Providing intelligence information to stakeholders. OR You have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., if related, from an accredited college or university that provided the knowledge skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. Note: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (unofficial or official) to support your claim. OR You have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education), that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. Note: Only graduate education in excess of two years (generally 36 semester hours) may be used in this calculation. You must submit a copy of your college transcripts (unofficial or official) and your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet the experience to support your claim.
