Job Overview:

APTIM is seeking a highly experienced Grants Manager to join our team in Washington, DC . This dynamic role encompasses leveraging and enhancing APTIMS's capabilities, brand, and client network in climate cycle impacts, including preparedness, coastal resilience, flood control, resilience program and construction management, and emergency response and recovery. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other grants-related professionals to devise and execute customer engagement strategies, with a primary focus on growing our grants management portfolio. This position plays a crucial role in managing and expanding relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders to drive business growth and success nationwide.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for securing grant funding to support emergency management and disaster services initiatives.

  • Research and identify relevant grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.

  • Lead the grant application process, including proposal writing, budget development, and submission.

  • Collaborate with program managers and stakeholders to ensure that grant-funded projects align with organizational priorities and objectives.

  • Manage all aspects of grant administration, including reporting, compliance, and financial tracking.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with grant funders and partner organizations.

  • Stay informed about trends, regulations, and best practices in emergency management grant funding.

  • Provide guidance and support to staff members involved in grant-funded projects.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of grant-funded programs and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events related to emergency management and disaster services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, state/local grants management, nonprofit financial management).

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in grant development and management.

  • Strong understanding of grant funding processes, including grant writing, budgeting, and reporting.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local grant regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software (e.g., Grants.gov, eGrants).
