JPMorgan Chase Deputy Head of JPMorgan Chase Institute - Managing Director in Washington, District Of Columbia

As a Deputy Head Managing Director, within the JPMorgan Chase Institute, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the President and Head of Research, Policy, and Insights. Your role will be pivotal in defining and shaping the Institute's research direction. You will lead external engagement initiatives promoting JPMorgan Chase's thought leadership on critical, timely, and relevant business and policy issues. This role offers you the chance to elevate the Institute's profile and credibility in the public sphere.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, shape, and manage the Institute's research portfolio, and ensure JP Morgan Chase Institute remains a premier research institution helping key decision makers make more informed decisions

  • Assess and monitor the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for new and engaging products that meet the needs of JPMCI's key external stakeholders and audience.

  • Cultivate and manage relationships and ongoing engagements with senior line-of-business leaders to help inform JPMCI's research agenda and ensure it has deep connectivity to the lines of business, and with key partners at academic institutions, think tanks, senior government officials, peer corporates, etc...

  • Influence the development of products that meet identified needs and research asks e.g., a higher-frequency research product that is relevant to ongoing events in the economy

  • Represent the Institute on prominent panels, as a keynote speaker, and in other highly visible engagements and platforms

  • Serve as JPMCI's primary contact with firm wide and Corporate Responsibility Communications to shape the Institute's narrative and external media and stakeholder engagement strategy for all Institute publications

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors and media outlets, in partnership with the JP Morgan and Corporate Responsibility Communications team, to ensure robust coverage of research findings and thought leadership initiatives

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Advanced degree in relevant field such as economics, public policy, other social sciences, or related disciplines

  • 15+ years of experience working in complex, matrix organizations such as the government, multi-national corporations or multinational non-governmental organizations

  • Proven track record of leadership in research or data analytics-focused roles with demonstrated ability to translate complex, often technical topics or processes into digestible, interesting formats for consumption by mass audiences

  • Extensive experience cultivating and managing relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders across academia and the public and private sectors and exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to negotiate needs and demands of diverse constituencies

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing the development process for research products from conceptualization to delivery with a focus on generating actionable insights

  • Strategic and commercial mindset with the ability to go deep and broad on topics/issues, as well as strategically leveraging different platforms/channels to promote organizational thought leadership

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree preferred
