Position Overview:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is seeking a business and operations coordinator, South Asia, to support the team’s programming, research, and member company engagement for the U.S.-India Business Council and the U.S.-Bangladesh Business Council. Working with the team’s president, this person will have an opportunity to develop an understanding of the key issues facing U.S. businesses in the region while engaging companies, regional government officials in Washington, D.C., and abroad, Chamber colleagues, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer and respond to all inquiries and communications directed to the president.

  • Delegate inquiries to directors and managers as appropriate .

  • Organize, prioritize, and maintain the president’s calendar and event schedule.

  • Draft and execute contracts and other internal operations to ensure smooth functioning of the South Asia team.

  • Exercise sound judgment when arranging the president’s schedule and act as the gatekeeper of his time and priorities.

  • Research and analyze developments in India’s economic policy and help prepare background briefs, sector updates, press releases, and official correspondence.

  • Track relevant U.S. and Indian legislation, calls for comments, and position papers of interest to member companies.

  • Invite, on behalf of the president, senior dignitaries to functions in India and the U.S. that advance U.S.-India commercial ties.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of related work experience in international relations.

  • Experience with scheduling and coordinating events and briefings.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.

  • Effective project management, planning, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and proofreading skills.

  • Able to meet time-sensitive deadlines and multitask.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Flexib ility to work overtime.

    The salary range for this position is $44,000.00 to $50,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
