Job Overview

The Associate Director of Development (ADoD), Northeast - an integral member of the regional Development team - researches, identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards donors in one of the University’s highest performing fundraising markets. They are joining Georgetown during an especially exciting and invigorating time as we embark on our most ambitious capital campaign Called to Be with a goal of raising $3 billion by 2026.

The ADOD builds a portfolio of current and prospective donors with a focus in the NYC metro market (NY, NJ, CT), and also travel to and develops a pipeline of donors in Boston and Philadelphia. They are responsible for all aspects of pipeline development within their portfolio of approximately 150 constituents, including prospective donor identification in their markets and engagement strategies. Additionally, they solicit and close gifts in the $25,000 to $100,000 range for the University; and meet key metrics throughout the year to measure their performance, including an agreed upon number of current and prospective donor visits, proposals/asks and dollars raised.

The ADoD travels to meet prospective and current donors, and may staff principals or faculty members in the market. At times, travel includes evenings and weekends, and they travel to Washington, DC approximately 9-10 times per year for internal campus meetings. They also help ensure the continued development of a strong community across key regions as the university’s capital campaign continues.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, Northeast, the Assistant Director of Development, Northeast also partners with Office of Advancement (OA) colleagues, with a heavy emphasis on collaboration with other development officers, including the Unit-based and Regional Development teams, to help with idea generation, planning, and execution of creative cultivation and engagement initiatives associated with the campaign and major gifts enterprise.

As well, they interact with Principals, Faculty, and other key university leaders in efforts aimed at reaching fundraising and engagement goals.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience - preferably in a development/fundraising environment

  • A desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Georgetown University and the Office of Advancement

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and Google Suite

  • Experience with prospect management systems, donor databases, and customer relationship management (CRM) systems

  • A solid understanding and experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and professions

  • Ability to adapt their communication style and a work style to meet the needs of their constituents

  • Highly collaborative engagement style, adept management of multiple priorities, and an excellent attention to detail

  • Professional maturity, tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University's donors

  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative as appropriate

  • Availability to travel, including via air

  • Possession of valid driver’s license and availability and willingness to drive

  • Availability for occasional weekend and after-hours work

The expected pay range for this position is $54,616 – $105,000 per annum.
