About The Role:

As a CBRE Assistant General Counsel, you will advise members within a specialized legal area or business activity and provide counsel on contentious matters in partnership with global litigation team. You will protect the organization's rights in contract negotiations and settlements and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

This job is part of the Legal Services functional area which provides legal counsel and guidance in ordinary and special activities of the organization. They also consult with regulatory authorities, lawyers, and legal consultants.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on all aspects of the company's operations related to facilities management services for the US federal government.

  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

  • Stay up to date on changes in US Government-specific laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations and advise leadership on vital actions.

  • Provide training and education to business and peers on legal matters, compliance requirements, and risk management strategies.

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, human resources, and operations, to ensure alignment on legal matters.

  • Represent the company in negotiations with government agencies and other external partners.

  • Lead all aspects of the recruiting and hiring of new employees. Provide formal supervision, the training and development of staff, conduct performance evaluations and coaching.

  • Partner with global compliance organization to provide strategic advice on compliance with legal matters such as sales contracts, property contracts, environmental issues, etc.

  • Assist in negotiating agreements and in structuring business initiatives to achieve objectives. Protect legal and regulatory considerations.

  • Coordinate the management of outside counsel relationships in line with CBRE’s Preferred Billing Program. This includes obtaining fee estimates for projects, assessing the need, budget and return on investment for utilization, and ensuring that the billing follows the company’s outside counsel policy.

  • Apply a broad knowledge of the business, own subject area, and how own field integrates with other lines of business to achieve team and departmental objectives.

  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence others to adopt a different point of view while being guided by policies and departmental plans.

  • Identify and solve technical and operational problems of complexity.

  • Understand and recognize the broader impact across the department.

  • Improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within job subject area.

  • Other job-related duties as may be assigned.

What You'll Need:

To perform this job successfully, an individual will need to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's Degree preferred with a minimum 8 years of relevant experience. At least 3 years of in-house experience, specific to US Federal Government or Defense contracting bids, and experience supervising outside counsel. Juris Doctorate required. Member of State Bar in good standing.

  • Strong knowledge of federal laws and regulations related to government contracting.

  • Excellent communication and social skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.

  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.

  • Leadership skills to empower key collaborators to achieve broad operational targets with impacts on own job subject area, multiple job fields, and department.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

  • Extensive organizational skills and a sophisticated inquisitive approach.

  • Intermediate math skills. Ability to calculate complicated figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations. Budget ownership.

  • TS or Secret Clearance is preferred, but not required.

  • DC/MD/VA area preferred but not mandated

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Assistant General Counsel role is $260,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $290,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
