U.S. Secret Service Asset Forfeiture Specialist in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary Joining the Secret Service, Criminal Investigative Division, Office of Investigations will allow you to contribute to the productivity and effectiveness of asset forfeiture operations. This Asset Forfeiture Specialistposition starts at a salary of $82,764.00 (GS 11 step 1, with promotion potential to GS-13 step 10. For more information on the Secret Service click here. Responsibilities The selectee will serve as an Asset Forfeiture Specialist in the Office of Investigations. Typical work assignments include: Ensuring that the correct forfeiture statutes and Suspicious Underlying Activities (SUAs) are correctly charged to initiate a successful judicial forfeiture. Utilizing USSS policies concerning the disposition of forfeited property and provides guidance to Field stakeholders. Monitoring FasTrak to ensure data integrity and notices are processed in accordance with applicable policies. Utilizing various legal data bases such as Lexis Nexis, CourtLink, Pacer and other databases provided by FINCEN in order to research judicial forfeitures. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position. One-year probationary period may be required. Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (see http://www.sss.gov/). Obtain and maintain a top secret Tier 5 clearance. Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position. Financial disclosure report required. This position requires Federal Acquisition Contracting Officer's Representative Level Ill Certification and/or equivalent; OR the incumbent must be able to meet the requirement within 24 months of assignment (with an approved waiver). Also, a Program Management Certification is preferred but not required. This position also requires the incumbent to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 continuous learning points every 24 months. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: You qualify for the GS-11 level (starting salary $82,764.00) if you possess one of the following: GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Reviewing financial transactions and other investigative reports related to seizure and forfeiture of assets to ensure the scope of laws or policies are not exceeded in developing probable cause. Demonstrating an understanding of laws relating to criminal activity which may lead to asset seizures; and Reviewing and processing forfeiture requests according to internal policies and procedures. OR You have successfully completed three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or LLM if related, at an accredited college or university in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this work. Note: You must submit a copy of your college transcript (official or unofficial) to support your claim. OR You have a combination of specialized experience (less than one year) and graduate education (beyond 2 years of graduate education), that when combined equals 100% of the qualification requirement. Note: Only graduate education in excess of two years (generally 36 semester hours) may be used in this calculation. GS-12: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $99,200.00) if you possess at least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing the following duties: Utilizing the civil asset, forfeiture, reformation act (CAFRA) and other applicable laws to legally execute forfeiture procedures; Establishing probable cause through research and review to acquire, forfeited property, and/or assets; and Processing forfeitures under forfeiture statutes, criminal and/or administrative.
