The Microsoft Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) department has an immediate opening for a dynamic, motivated, and experienced transactional attorney to support Microsoft’s Software and Digital Platforms (SDP) business in the role of Senior Corporate Counsel. The SDP business envisions Microsoft as the premier AI platform and strategic partner, empowering companies to innovate and launch cutting-edge products.

Responsibilities

  • Support sales, business development, engineeringand relatedteams responsible for pursuing and closing strategic and complex technology transactions across the United States, Canada,and Latin America.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor Degree or international equivalent degree AND 6+ years experience as a practicing attorney

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.

  • 4+ years of experience as an attorney specializing in complex transactions, including technology transactions, M&A, business development, or related work managing complex transactions involving multiple stakeholders.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in advising on data protection issues, intellectual property, and commercial matters.

  • Experience with cloud computing, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies and related legal issues.

  • Sound judgment that incorporates legal analysis, a pragmatic approach, and consideration of business goals, risk tolerance, and stakeholder priorities.

  • Enthusiastic team player who enjoys partnering with cross-functional teams to solve complex issues, invest in others, and work collaboratively to generate consensus across diverse points of view.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and with a bias for action in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.

  • Project management skills and the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in the face of competing priorities.

  • Understands business issues and has a pragmatic, commercial orientation.

  • Service-oriented and customer obsessed.

  • In-house counsel experience.

  • Business level fluency to read, write and speak Spanish, Portuguese or French.

Legal Counsel IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $141,800 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $179,300 - $268,900 per year.
