The Public Affairs team is part of Microsoft’s Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs (CELA) organization and part of the broader Communications community of practice. The Public Affairs Team works on issues at the intersection of technology, public policy, and societal impact. We manage external communications and outreach on topics that contribute to the public discussion about the impact of technology around the world and in our own backyard. We use the tools of communications, marketing and public engagement to help support public policy efforts across a wide range of issues impacting the company and the communities we serve. We do this work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team with communications, public relations, marketing, and government affairs professionals.

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Campaigns & Advocacy Manager, Public Affairs to join our team at Microsoft. In this role, you will report to the General Manager, Campaigns and Advocacy, to support the design and execution of high-impact, integrated marketing and communications campaigns that focus on social impact and policy issues. You will play a critical role in project management and coordination across various internal and external stakeholders, helping to drive Microsoft’s mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more.

Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Coordinate and manage multiple campaign projects, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic objectives. Track progress, manage timelines, and communicate updates to all relevant stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., Government Affairs, Communications, Legal) and external partners (e.g., think tanks, community leaders, academics) to ensure effective collaboration and campaign delivery.

  • Campaign Support: Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of integrated marketing campaigns with a digital focus. Ensure campaigns are aligned with Microsoft’s strategic priorities in key areas such as technology, social impact, and public policy.

  • Knowledge Management: Help develop and maintain a knowledge management system for disseminating campaign materials across various geographies and collecting feedback from diverse markets.

  • Coordination of Communication Strategy: Facilitate clear and consistent communication between team members, stakeholders, and leadership. Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials to support campaign activities.

  • Digital & Social Impact Focus: Oversees a coordinated organizational approach to ensure campaigns leverage digital channels effectively and contribute to Microsoft’s broader social impact goals. Stay informed about trends in digital marketing and communications, particularly in relation to public policy and advocacy.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 4+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Program Management, Project Management, Field Operations, Integrated Campaigns and Advocacy Strategy, or related experience

  • OR equivalent experience

  • Skills: Organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with digital marketing, social media, and integrated communications strategies. Demonstrated ability to design and manage campaign plans.

  • Breadth of Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with experience spanning digital marketing and earned media, including social media, paid media, audience research and insights, messaging and creative development, web and content strategy, PR, and earned media relations.

  • Communication: Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Experience in social impact, public policy, or advocacy campaigns.

  • Familiarity with knowledge management systems and tools.

  • A passion for technology and its potential to drive positive change in society.

  • Redmond, WA is the preferred office location for this role; proximity to Redmond and/or the willingness to relocate would be preferred.

Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year.
