Architect of the Capitol Painter-Decorator Supervisor in Washington DC, District Of Columbia

Summary This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Superintendent House Office Buildings, Assistant Superintendent Tenant Services Division, Painting Branch. Serves as Painter-Decorator Supervisor. Directs the work of the Painting Day or Night section. . Has full supervisory responsibility for work operations and subordinate employees. Accountable to the Painter-Decorator General Supervisor For the quantity and quality of work performed. Responsibilities The tour of duty hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 9pm to 5:30am. The hours may change due to operational need. This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situation MAJOR DUTIES: Serves as first line supervisor of the assigned Section’s workforce. Responsible for project planning, acquisition of materials, supplies and equipment, contractor oversight, inspection and troubleshooting. Maintains workload data and prepares management requested reports. Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates. Assigns duties and evaluates performance. Utilizes computer-assisted facilities management system (TMA), AOC’s specialized maintenance management software, to ensure that preventive maintenance schedules are followed and that work orders are assigned in a timely manner. Ensures the availability of materials, equipment, tools and workers adequate to complete projects in a timely, efficient and effective manner. Responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas. Utilizes various office automation software for maintaining records such as TMA work orders, price estimates, logbooks, status reports and inventory. Based on duties assigned, incumbent may require knowledge of hazardous (e.g. lead paint, asbestos and solvents) and universal (e.g. lamps and batteries) waste management requirements and spray booth operation to ensure compliance with environmental regulations in performance of duties (e.g. document waste materials, decide hazardous material is no longer needed and will be disposed, select containers for waste accumulation, add waste to containers, label containers, move waste to and from waste accumulation sites, manage waste accumulation sites).
