About the Role

Veralto is looking for a Director of Business Development to contribute to the strategic direction of its $3B Water Quality Segment. Reporting directly to the VP, Strategy & Business Development for Water Quality, and working with various strategic partners across six operating companies and the wider Veralto Strategy and Corporate Development organization, this highly visible role is instrumental in shaping the strategic direction and inorganic growth trajectory of the business and driving shareholder value.

Your Responsibilities

The Director of Business Development will help lead the inorganic buildout of the Water Quality segment, primarily comprised of Hach, ChemTreat, Trojan, OTT Hydromet, McCrometer, and Sea-Bird. Deeply engaged in efforts pertaining to the development of the strategic direction of Water Quality, this role will help build and drive an actionable inorganic strategy for the segment, and will successfully execute that strategy by advancing proprietary qualitative and quantitative analysis and subsequent M&A deal execution. This role has the opportunity to significantly impact the Water Quality segment through strategically attractive acquisitions that deliver strong returns on capital.

This position is considered part of the wider Veralto M&A team which is located on-site in Waltham, MA, with flexible working arrangements for the right candidate.

Your Experience

  • Learn established processes for market work and deal execution from long-tenured colleagues at Veralto and within Water Quality, and be a steward of process improvement through VES

  • Become the expert on adjacent and non-adjacent spaces through primary, proprietary market work

  • Serve as a project leader in conducting target company diligence

  • Build and evolve an M&A funnel and drive decision-making across executive stakeholders by simplifying complex topics and communicating the business levers that define winning and losing

  • Oversee cultivation of near-, mid-, and long-term target relationships

  • Partner with the Veralto Corporate Development team to successfully execute deals

  • Partner with operating company presidents and strategy leaders to support the development of operating company and/or segment strategic plans, as appropriate

Your Attributes

  • 7+ years evaluating the market attractiveness and strategic fit of new businesses/markets/domains

  • 3-5 years in a top-tier consulting firm or equivalent experience focused on market analysis and/or growth/strategy commercial projects

  • Undergraduate degree in science, engineering, or other technical discipline and top tier MBA required

  • Substantial experience and/or formal education that has allowed the development of a deep understanding of a domain and/or industry resulting in key customer insights and empathy

  • 2-5 years’ experience executing in a non-consulting role, resulting in meaningful functional knowledge

  • Participated in 2-3 closed outside or inside diligence projects

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Line management in a relevant sector/domain to our Water Quality businesses or adjacent industries

The salary range for this role is $190,000 – $230,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
