The Lead Engineer performs a key role within GE Hitachi’s Design process and Requirements Management team which focus on development of new advanced nuclear reactor projects (SMR and SFR). You will be responsible for the development and implementation of a requirements management program to integrate the project-wide technical design and interdisciplinary interfaces, requirements management tool implementation and functionality, evaluating and supporting complex issues within design, analyses, construction, and modularization of Nuclear Island Structures. nuclear power plant.

In this role, you will be providing engineering design direction and support within a team environment, working with other disciplines, project/product stakeholders, partner organizations and suppliers to advance plant conceptual and detailed design and successfully deliver a new plants project. The Design Process and Requirements Management team is part of the Plant Systems Integration group working on integrating and coordinating multi-discipline activities to support the design of safe and economically superior reactor designs by employing a balance of cutting edge and proven technologies and will be responsible for development and implementation of licensing and technical requirements along with the associated work processes for advanced work in new nuclear plants.

Responsible for Design Process and Requirements Management (DPRM) activities that support:

GE's BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) .

Roles and Responsibilities

Provide knowledge and leadership in the development and implementation of integrated design processes pertaining to requirements management (RM), requirements traceability (RMT), configuration management (CM), change control principles, standards, and best practices through the design, licensing, construction, and decommissioning life of the NPP.

Establish global Configuration Management (CM) capabilities for Collaborative Lifecycle

Management for NPP Requirements Management (RM) and change control application.

Develop RM/CM practices, procedures, and tools to facilitate coordination and integration of RM//CM across disciplines and organizational boundaries.

Develop requirement hierarchy strategy and structure for the implementation of RM/RMT

to capture the flow down of technical requirements from the Basis of Design, Safety Case

Development, and Technical Specifications and other design deliverables.

Provide strategy for prioritization of Basis of Design scope of traceability, using graded and stepwise

approach solutions.

Lead the planning and development for the integration of the RM/CM schedule across

disciplines to ensure a coordinated work effort.

Provide technical guidance and leadership, oversee project scheduling and resource planning, develop talent through mentorship, and act as the point-of-contact between your engineering team and both internal and external customers.

Conducts component and system integration with overall new nuclear plant design. All activities that span multiple components and systems that are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance, operability, and design to cost.

Manages product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow down.

Drive the identification of verification and validation (V&V) requirements at the plant, system, and component level.

Responsible for defining plant-level design requirements for the systems, components, subcontractors, and partner teams.

Manages interface between systems, components, and project/product management organizations.

Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.

Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how your area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.

Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Design, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science

Proven experience in an engineering capacity.

Fluent communication skills in Polish and English.

Desired Characteristics (desired but not obligatory)

Masters or PhD in Engineering (Nuclear, Design, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil).

In-depth knowledge of BWR plant systems, including Mechanical, Electrical, and I&C design bases and

interfacing design requirements.

Experience working in a nuclear power plant or other desired.

Experience in developing plant-level architecture design approaches and plant safety case justifications.

Extensive industry experience with licensing of Nuclear Power Plants, including development of ITAACs to meet regulatory approval, including construction and implementation challenges.

Experience and knowledge of integrated design processes pertaining to requirements management (RM), requirements traceability (RMT), configuration management (CM), change control principles, standards, and best practices through the design, licensing, construction, and decommissioning life of the Nuclear Power Plant.

Establish global Configuration Management (CM) capabilities for Collaborative Lifecycle Management for NPP Requirements Management (RM) and change control application. Plant experience in multiple capacities including on-shift, outage prep, work control, and/or training.

Commercial nuclear engineering experience in multiple capacities including Design, Licensing, PRA, and/or Systems -OR- shipyard nuclear systems engineering experience.

Requirements Management experience utilizing DOORs/ELM or similar tool.

Professional Engineer license by Polish Chamber of Civil Engineers (Polska Izba Inzynierow Budownictwa) or equivalent.

Strong knowledge of plant operations, licensing and design bases, transient and accident analysis

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
