What You Can Expect

Responsible for manufacturing and process engineering activities associated with advanced technology, controls, automation and manufacturing processes of raw material through finished goods in an industrial setting. The candidate must be technically proficient in manufacturing process automation, comprehension of digital information/data to incorporate into process improvement, maintenance, quality, regulatory compliance, and validation disciplines. This position will serve as a subject matter expert to implement and support advanced manufacturing technology, processes & systems in operations.

This position is on site 5 days per week in Warsaw, IN.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Use standard process-control principles to develop, test and modify industrial equipment, manufacturing processes and the devices that control and interact with them.

  • Design, test, troubleshoot and oversee the implementation of new processes.

  • Design, develop, document and program new equipment controls including manufacturing equipment automation, robotic controls, PLC’s, and vision systems.

  • Lead validation activities that have a direct impact on all manufacturing equipment controls and automation systems, along with coordinating work with engineers and technicians assigned to validation related testing.

  • Create and implement new strategies to improve process efficiency, as well as supporting start-up activities.

  • Work with machine and tooling suppliers to develop manufacturing processes and tools for new and existing products.

  • Review proposals and layouts of new equipment for advanced technology.

  • Develop and maintain process documentation – Work Instructions, PFMEA, Control Plans, Set-up Sheets, etc.

  • Assist in defining and developing strategic OEMs for automated processes and equipment.

  • Manage equipment relocation plans, layout reviews, coordination of work, and return-to-service testing/documentation as required.

  • Field travel to other Zimmer Biomet facilities or vendors to support projects.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Must be technically competent in industrial control architectures, automated systems & applications, programmable logic controls, equipment controls and complex electrical systems

  • Robotics experience required

  • Knowledge of CNC Machining operations and process design required

  • Understanding of data logging of process data

  • Industrial Network Communication Design and Implementation

  • Proficient with Process Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans

  • Experience using AutoCAD software for layout updates and reviews

  • Good knowledge of User Requirements (UR), User Acceptance testing (UAT) and Site Acceptance testing (SAT)

  • Experience in project management with the proven ability to bring projects to successful completion within established timelines & resource requirements

  • Knowledge and experience with lean manufacturing for plant layouts and process flow

  • Knowledge and experience with equipment installation and relocation processes

  • Computer skills necessary to support process automation and data management

  • Ability to coordinate work with contractors and technicians, with timely and thorough follow-up

  • Ability to prioritize and adjust priorities based on business needs

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the company hierarchy and have decision-making abilities.

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with processes regarding QSR equipment and 21 CFR 802.70 subparts related to Production and Process Control (P&PC) preferred

  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to interact positively with personnel from various backgrounds, position titles, and manufacturing experience

  • Willingness to share knowledge and ability to train others on advanced manufacturing technology

Your Background

  • B.S. in mechanical, industrial engineering, or other engineering science

  • 3-5 years of advanced manufacturing or automation engineering experience, preferably in an FDA regulated industry

  • Related training and/or certification preferred in areas such as industrial technologies field, advanced manufacturing, manufacturing technologies, engineering, or robotic principles
