Ultium Cells Overview:

Ultium Cells, LLC. is a joint venture Lithium-ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solution, Ltd., and General Motors. This high-technology plant is a new construction that will have the latest in battery cell manufacturing technology. This $2.3 billion investment will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors’ North American electric vehicle applications.

Position Description:

The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible to purchase and manage the receipt of imported and domestic raw materials. This position will also coordinate production needs and scheduling with the Production Scheduler. Frequent communication with headquarters, customers, and vendors will be necessary. Potential exists for short-term travel to visit equipment and material suppliers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage contractual agreements and unit prices with headquarters

• Must negotiate, manage, report, and purchase from U.S. and foreign vendors

• Will update statement of requirements (SORs) as needed by business needs

• Able to purchase materials as needed by engineering change builds

• Examine contents and compare with records, such as budgets, manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify the accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipments

• Document materials using knowledge of packaging information, incoterms, and payment terms

• Responsible for unit price analysis, indexation, and inventory, production, and consumption simulation in order to prevent material shortages.

• Manage documents such as commercial invoice, packing lists, bills of lading, and shipping orders to for analysis and book keeping

• Be able to attend international phone conference meetings with buyers

• Participate in monthly closing activities including physical inventory check, data entry, administrative tasks, analytical reports reflecting manufacturing cost, inventory amount, sales record, etc.

• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications and Competencies:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, Finance, Economics or other related fields

• SAP experience strongly preferred

• Experience working in an automotive or automated manufacturing environment preferred

• 1+ years of relevant purchasing experience, including raw material purchasing, international purchasing and/or negotiating

• Ability to analyze data and prepare reports, statements and projections

• Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, presentation

• Ability to use problem solving and critical thinking skills to achieve goals

• Capable of working in a collaborative team environment
