We currently have an exciting career opportunity available to join the HKS team as a Direct Support Professional in our Residential Program in Wantagh. We are hiring for PT Weekend positions.

$3000 Sign on Bonus after completing six months of employment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Supervise and positively interact with the consumers following all residential habilitation plans

• Encourage residents to participate in meal planning, activity scheduling and in creating an environment of their choice.

• Provide consumers with community integration opportunities.

• Direct consumers in their personal routine; assist/do laundry, provide first aid, prepare meals utilizing provided menus.

• give consumers positive reinforcement as appropriate

• Maintain complete and accurate daily records and communication logs

• Conduct and document fire drills

• Maintain the order, safety, cleanliness of the residence including the outdoor areas.

• Attend staff meetings and/or trainings that are required

• Provide medical oversight including medication administration under the supervision of the nursing staff

• Transport consumers to day program and appointments as necessary

• Interact with parents and professionals from outside Agencies

• Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Required)

• Experience working with the developmentally disabled knowledge of OPWDD regulations (Preferred)

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

• Valid NYS Driver's License (Required)

• CPR Certification (Required)

• AMAP Certification (Required)

• SCIP-R certification (Required)
