Job Description
A Scientist II position is available within the Biologics Process Development Department at the Antibody Drug Conjugate Center of Excellence in Waltham, MA. The group is responsible for developing and supporting cell culture and purification manufacturing processes for early and late phase clinical programs. We strive for speedy delivery of quality processes that are high yield, amenable to efficient manufacturing operations, robust and provide desirable product quality attributes. The group interacts closely with other development groups, along with Manufacturing and Discovery. The selected candidate will be involved in process development, process characterization, tech transfer, and scale-up. We are seeking for an enthusiastic, creative scientist that can work independently and as part of a dynamic team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop recovery and purification process that utilizes clarification, chromatography, and membrane filtration technologies for monoclonal antibodies, bispecifics, and antibody drug conjugates (ADC).
Proactively seek opportunities to come up with innovative solutions to cater challenging business problems through creative solutions.
Design and execute process development and characterization activities, impurity and viral clearance studies.
Build experimentally verified fit for purpose mathematical models for downstream purification processes.
Provide deeper understanding of process performance using appropriate experimental and modeling tools.
Highly independent and productive in performing laboratory research or method development, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor.
Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with colleagues in other functional areas (Analytical Development, Discovery, Manufacturing and Quality).
Conceive, investigate and execute scientific research and development to significantly improve platform processes and workflows, develop new methods, build technical expertise and intellectual property, and deepen scientific understanding.
Proactively seek out new information and opportunities to advance our technologies and pipeline. Critically evaluate relevant scientific, regulatory and business advances and integrate this knowledge.
A primary author of publications, presentations, regulatory documents and/or primary inventor of patents.
Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, and GMP compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 8 years of experience, or Master’s Degree or equivalent education with typically 5 years of experience.
Education background in chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, biochemistry, biochemical engineering, or biotechnology is preferred.
Experience in areas of purification process development is preferred.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills and specifically illustrate strong oral and written technical communications.
Seamlessly present research outcomes to multifunctional teams
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and capability to overcome complex issues.
Demonstrated success in coordinating and executing important projects to achieve business goals.
Must have a “results-oriented” work ethic and a positive “can-do” attitude with a strong sense of urgency and self-motivated desire to achieve.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance and 401(k) to eligible employees.
This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
