Blue Mountain Heart to Heart Nurse (Walla Walla and BMHTH Clinic, split duty) in Walla Walla, Washington

Nurse (Walla Walla Jail and BMHTH Clinic, split duty)

This permanent, full-time position supports clinical services at the Walla Walla County Adult Jail and at the Health Engagement Hub in the community. This floating duty will have scheduled hours at both sites and may also have some limited monthly hours on the mobile clinic. The emphasis is on supporting individuals through a variety of settings as they themselves transition between systems of care. This position qualifies for all BMHTH benefits and hourly compensation ranges from $43 -- $45.50.

While at the jail, this position works directly with a medical assistant who helps with medication passes, and under the supervision of a physician assistant and supervising physician. The WWCJ offers daily buprenorphine dosing, and three medication passes a day. Corrections officers provide support during nursing assessments and as needed. Sick calls are once to twice a week, and the nurse must meet all statutory requirements for care.

Duties:

  • Understand and adhere to ethics rules and standards for opioid treatment nurse case managers set by the State of Washington , and/or Blue Mountain Heart to Heart (BMHTH)
  • Ensure confidentiality of all WWCJ clients, current and former Provide nursing and medical care as required after booking and as needed, reaching out for assistance when needed, and as proactively as possible
  • Provide one week of on-call support per month (with additional compensation provided by level of support)
  • Provide timely, accurate, and complete reporting on cases in WWCJ systems and in clients' paper files, subject to regular review by the supervisor and/or Executive Director or their designee Work productively with facility corrections staff, fellow team members, and with outside partners, for the wellbeing of clients
  • Work effectively with BMHTH on- site case manager who can provide non-medical support for clients Attend weekly WWCJ staff update meetings and be prepared to speak about the nursing and medical activities Attend case management and project-related training as requested and required by state or county authorities and/or BMHTH

Qualifications:

  • Active nursing credential, may be encumbered but must allow for all required activities to be conducted by the employee
  • Bachelor's degree level of RN preferred; or 3-5 years experience in nursing with an Associate's degree
  • Bilingual candidates preferred
