ASRC Federal Holding Company Welder in Wake Island, Hawaii

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Welder for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island.

This is a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule with 3 months on-site at Wake Island, and 1 month off unpaid. While working on-site, housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria.

Transportation to Wake Island, from Honolulu, HI, is provided by government sponsored aircraft.

If you live outside of Honolulu, HI, you are responsible for your own transportation to get to Honolulu, HI.

Position Summary

The Welder is responsible for diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, vehicles, boats, and structural and non-structural steel and aluminum.

Essential Duties & Job Functions

  • Comprehend and interpret design drawings, construction drawings, diagrams, sketches, and blueprints

  • Examines welds for bead size and other specifications.

  • Repair broken or cracked components and fill holes.

  • Repair installations, rigging, and blocking.

  • Remove components, repair, and assembly.

  • Prepare broken components for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces

  • Experience and highly skilled in all types of oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding and cutting,

  • Familiar with proper welding procedures for all metals and alloys ordinarily found in heavy construction equipment, vehicles, boats, and military infrastructure.

  • Fabricate and repair metal parts.

  • Perform welding that meets ASME requirements.

  • Maintain equipment including dressing welding electrodes, oiling, greasing, machine setting, changing of tooling, and other adjustments.

  • Note that POL system welding is not normally performed and requires American Petroleum Institute certification.

Requirements :

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Graduate from a two or four-year vocational-technical training institution or year-for-year equivalent experience.

  • Five (5) years’ experience in all listed essential duties and job functions.

  • American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welder.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Successful National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

  • Successful pre-employment drug test.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Position requires walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively on radios.
