Pay Rate: $22 per hour

What’s a typical day as a Field Research Assistant? You’ll be:

• Performing a variety of routine tasks associated with the seed research program.

• Pollinating corn plants and harvesting corn ears according to established research protocols.

• Assisting with field and shade house tasks such as planting, thinning, weeding, tissue sampling, transplanting, pot or flat filling, plant tagging, seedling rearray, plant cutting, husk back, harvest, and pest management activities.

• Processing samples, including preparation of supplies, sorting, shelling, weighing, counting, preparation for shipping, and seed packaging.

• Following health monitoring and safety protocols, including obtaining respirator medical clearance if required.

• Working with and around plants and plant pollens.

• Lifting up to 40lbs and walking on uneven field surfaces.
