JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for routine to semi-skilled seasonal work in the streets, water, and sewer departments. Works under the general supervision of the Public Works Supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may arise and may be assigned as necessary. General labor and maintenance of streets, levees, right-of-ways, storm sewers and sanitary sewers. Some duties may include but are not limited to mowing, weed trimming, spraying weeds, street patching, street striping, catch basin cleaning, storm and sanitary sewer cleaning and other various duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications: 1. Valid ND or MN driver's license and good driving record 2. Ability to operate or be trained to operate a variety of mechanized equipment 3. Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended time 4. Ability to work outdoors entire shift. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES 1. Some knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in general maintenance. 2. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. 3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public. 4. Ability to operate all equipment safely. 5. Physical strength to do strenuous labor in varying weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must on occasion lift 50 lbs, sit for extended periods of time while operating various types of equipment, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, reach and balance.
