An opportunity currently exists for a Food Technologist to join Nestle’s Cereal Partners Worldwide (CPW) Applications team based in our Wahgunyah Factory, the home of Uncle Toby’s Snacks and Cereals.

This role will act as a key contact point between CPW R&D and the factory to develop and progress new products and cost optimisation projects to commercialisation stage in accordance with the strategic marketing plan. Meanwhile, ensuring that Nestlé standards and procedures are maintained in respect to quality, safety, competitiveness, and profitability.

A day in the life…

Reporting to the Product Applications Group Manager, key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support the development of new products with R&D by organising trial materials, factory trials, communication, and planning of trials with key stakeholders in the factory and project team.

  • Key liaison between CPW R&D and factory departments.

  • Provide ongoing technical support (including systems & documentation) of existing products and packaging.

  • Ensure all products comply with relevant Food & Trade Practices legislation in conjunction with R&D and Regulatory corporate business partner.

  • Identify, Participate, & lead, raw material Value optimisation projects.

  • Liaise with Suppliers, Purchasing, to ensure best available ingredients at best price.

  • Maintenance and creation of Bills of Material within SAP.

  • Maintain Product release Criteria for the factory from MD, Artwork Legal Requirements, Nutritional data for all products – compliance review from MD.

  • Maintain documentation using Factory document control system

  • Maintain & develop NPD related Instructions & Procedures within the Applications area.

  • Support factory initiatives such as Lean, 5S, DMAIC, CTF, Internal Audits as required.

  • Support “Zero injury, defect and waste” mind-set and promote behaviours that have a positive impact on Safety, Health, Environment and Quality.

What will make you successful

  • Enjoy working within cross-functional teams in a dynamic work environment.

  • Tertiary Qualified in Food Science / Technology / BSc Material Science.

  • 2 + years’ experience in Food Manufacturing Industry in Product Development.

  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene, HACCP, GMP and Sensory Evaluation experience.

  • Understanding of FSANZ & other food related regulations.

  • Ability to motivate others through involvement.

  • Previous experience and familiarity working with SAP preferred.

  • A working understanding of Australian Food Regulations is beneficial.

  • Understanding of and commitment to Safety, Health, Environment, Food Safety and Quality.
