Hyperion Biotechnology, Inc. has been providing services to federal government customers for over 20 years. We are seeking a Water Collector with a flexible schedule to collect drinking water samples from healthcare facilities in and around the Washington, DC area. Travel time and mileage is reimbursed. The job involves going to hospitals and clinics to collect water samples from various sources to include water fountains, faucets, and cooling towers. Samples are tested by the Water Collector for pH, temperature and chlorine at the point of collection.

The job requires quarterly collection of water samples over four (4) consecutive days, up to 8-10 hours each day, with follow-up visits to get additional samples as needed. You will be compensated for travel time and mileage.

    Major Responsibilities/Activities

  • Following specific instructions, assemble, construct, service and/or repair simple to standard equipment/parts.

  • Adjust and operate equipment.

  • Travel to the collection site(s) and collect water samples from various sources.

  • Conduct pH, temperature and chlorine tests on water samples using established methods.

  • Record test data accurately and annotate deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.

  • Prepare test specimens for shipment to laboratory.

  • Deliver samples to a common carrier for shipment to laboratory.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to climb stairs and walk at least 5 miles a day hauling a wheeled cooler that weighs as much as 80 lbs.

  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • Have a dependable vehicle with current license and registration. The vehicle must have the capacity to haul a large cooler and other collection supplies

  • Have access to a reliable cell phone

  • Have access to a computer for the purpose of sending emails and otherwise keeping in touch with Hyperion and government contacts at VA facilities

  • A clean criminal and driving record

  • Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen

  • Be detail oriented

  • Be a U.S. citizen
