Job Description

The Humanities Department and College of Arts and Sciences at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of English (a one-year, non-tenure track position) to begin Fall 2024. TAMIU is a growing university of over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant bilingual and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. For more information, visit www.tamiu.edu. Primary duties will include teaching 15 semester credit hours per semester, the equivalent of five courses in composition. Courses will include freshman (ENGL 1301/1302) and advanced courses in composition (e.g., technical communication, writing in the disciplines). This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in English (or a related field) OR an MFA in Creative Writing. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment or completed an MFA degree before appointment. We desire candidates who have prior experience teaching writing.
