Technology Evaluation Specialist

$30.00/hour

The Technology Specialist (Wage) is responsible for the TEEX Testing & Innovation Center (TT&IC) customer experience through assisting in planning, coordination, and implementation of TEEX Tested® projects and select Center events. The technology Specialist assists in efforts to attract new customers and retain existing customers. The Technology Specialist assists the Technology Evaluation Manager through development and review of project proposals and reports. You will manage internal and external customer relationships in accordance with the TEEX core values. This position reports to the Technology Evaluation Manager.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (equivalency: will consider an Associate’s degree with two years of project management experience or a High School Diploma/GED with four years of project management experience)

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid state Driver's License

  • Ability to get US passport within 180 days of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • One or more years of experience in management of public safety, military, or engineering development or operations

  • Five or more years of relevant experience in deep technology innovation

  • Five or more years of recent experience in one or more of the following career fields: Military, Fire service, Law Enforcement, Heavy Rescue (i.e. Urban Search and Rescue), Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, GIS).

  • Five or more years of project management experience or Project Management Professional Certification (PMI PMP)

  • Experience with proposal and budget development, contract development

  • Experience in coordination and collaboration with Subject Matter Professionals across industry

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing

  • Regular use of computer/keyboard

  • Ability to work outdoors exposed to various weather conditions, potential allergens, elevated noise levels, and heat

  • Physical conditioning consistent with lifting and/or moving office documents/files and emergency response technology up to 20 lbs.

  • Ability to travel independently to remote locations by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • and academia as needed to develop and implement tailored technical services

  • Ability to interpret mission needs into technology solutions

  • Skilled at oral communications and presentations

  • Ability and experience in working with dispersed and diverse teams to accomplish objectives

  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to interact positively and professionally with clients and staff

  • Knowledge of basic office software and instructional programs

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups

  • Skilled in utilizing various learning and active listening strategies

  • Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning

Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:

Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing Center projects - 50%:

  • Assists with proposal and budget development, contract development; coordination and collaboration with Subject Matter Professionals across TEEX, TAMUS entities, and vendors as needed to develop and implement tailored technical services

  • Collaborates with a variety of Industry and public and private safety professionals to identify and assess technologies that have the potential to enhance public safety and improve homeland security

Assist in planning and implementing strategies to attract and retain Center customers - 25%:

  • Assists with implementing strategies to identify and define potential customers; assist with the planning and implementation of Center marketing efforts

  • Assists in drafting, editing, and scheduling marketing communications in a variety of channels (i.e. web, print, email, online)

  • Assists in monitoring Fed/State government BAA/RFI/RFP/Grants regarding technology innovation involving academic and/or state institutions

Develop and manage customer experiences - 25%:

  • Provides outstanding customer service through a customer relationship management (CRM) process

  • Follows up on leads, tracking project timelines and deliverables

Other Duties:

  • Performs additional work duties as assigned

  • Maintains and safeguards assigned divisional equipment and property

  • As part of the TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/ HQ Department Head during state emergencies
