Systems Engineer Location: Orlando, FL Duration: 12 months Description: The Staff System Safety Engineer (SSE) is responsible for ensuring that the products developed at client and sold to the customer are safe for the warfighter to use. A successful candidate will employ safety analysis techniques which will be performed on the end item and its subsystems. The primary job responsibility will be that of performing hazard analysis in accordance with MIL-STD-882 and contractual requirements. The Staff SSE analyzes and recommends safety features and controls for system design, software, training and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards. The Staff SSE also performs and supports the development of safety documentation to satisfy customer and contractual requirements. The candidate works with systems and software engineering on architecture definition, use cases and generates software safety analyses in accordance with government guidelines. Expectations are the Staff SSE can work independently with minimal oversight, based on professional experience and educational background, while helping mentor and train early career SSEs in the System Safety discipline. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882 Developing and evaluating system safety requirements Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines Proficient knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to make formal presentations to large groups Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers Desired Skills: Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering Familiarity with missile and launcher systems Model-based engineering knowledge Experience with DOORS requirements application Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools As an equal opportunity employer, ICONMA provides an employment environment that supports and encourages the abilities of all persons without regard to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or express, ethnicity, national origin, age, disability status, political affiliation, genetics, marital status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
