Position Summary:
The Skilled-Nursing Facility (SNF) Coding Curriculum Developer will be responsible for designing and creating a comprehensive curriculum to teach coding in a Skilled-Nursing Facility setting. The Curriculum Developer will preferably have experience developing high-quality educational content related to coding. They will also have knowledge of current coding and SNF regulations, as well as experience with creating accessible learning materials.
The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver who can work independently or collaboratively to create engaging instructional material. The Curriculum Developer must also possess strong technical skills and be able to effectively utilize various software programs. In addition, the candidate must be able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop an effective and comprehensive curriculum that meets the needs of the target audience
Design and create instructional materials, assessments, and other digital resources
Ensure all learning materials are in line with industry standards and regulations
Research current trends in SNF coding and create updated content
Collaborate with subject matter experts to create effective learning materials
Ensure instructional materials are accessible and easy to understand for varied audiences
Evaluate and revise existing content as needed to ensure accuracy and relevancy
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Minimum of Associate's degree in a related field
Minimum of 3 years of verifiable medical coding experience in a skilled-nursing facility, with a strong understanding of SNF-PPS and overall SNF payment methodology
Current coding certification through either AHIMA or AAPC (CPC, CCS, etc.)
Knowledge of SNF Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM)
Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and guidelines
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations, including HIPAA, related to medical coding and billing
Experience utilizing an encoder required
Experience with Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) preferred
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Outlook, Word and Excel required
Proficiency in APA citation format
Ability to be flexible, follow verbal and written instructions while working in a team-oriented environment, including flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volume and deadlines
Communicates effectively in any given case in a constructive, goal directed, professional manner, and performs other related duties as requested by Program Manager
