Senior Software Engineer - C# & Rust

Location and Workplace Flexibility:

We have offices in Atlanta GA, Boston MA, Morristown NJ, Plano TX, St. Louis MO, St. Petersburg FL, and Hyderabad, India. We foster a hybrid and remote friendly culture and all of our employee's work locations are based on the needs of the position and determined by the Leadership team. Zelis is looking for a Senior Software Engineer – C# & Rust to expand our engineering team. You will need to be a team player with an eagerness to learn, as you and your teammates will collaborate closely to enhance our mature, complex product. You will get to work with Rust, C#, ASP.Net, Microsoft SQL, Postgres, AWS technologies such as SQS, Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache, among other technologies.

As a Senior Software Engineer – C# & Rust at Zelis, you’ll be part of an experienced team working on complex products. Your responsibilities include supporting software programming initiatives, enhancing existing systems, participating in code reviews, coordinating deployments, and exploring new technologies. You’ll apply best practices, mentor other engineers, and contribute to high-value features using languages like C#, ASP.Net, and Rust. We follow an Agile methodology in small software teams to consistently deliver high-quality software.

What you will do:

  • Support software programming initiatives within an Agile team environment

  • Support and enhance current systems

  • Participate in Pull Request process for peer code review

  • Help coordinate and execute code deployments.

  • Prototype/explore new technology and articulate business value Debug and optimize code

  • Support the development of documentation

  • Participate in the software development lifecycle

  • Apply best practices and standard operating procedures

  • Create simple solutions that solve complex problems

  • Take software from ideation to production

  • Help lead the way in building complex software systems

  • Partner with business/product owners to help define the engineering work necessary to complete high-value features and initiatives

  • Help in the exploration and evaluation of new technologies and processes and mentor other Engineers

  • Represent the engineering point of view internally and externally

  • Contribute as a senior resource of the engineering team by partaking in ownership of the software, systems, and processes

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of software engineering/development experience

  • Rust, C#, Postgres, ASP.Net, Git, .Net, object-oriented and functional design

  • Must be able to write and read SQL queries

  • Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and serverless technologies

  • Experience communicating architecture and design of new systems, or extending existing systems

Preferred Experience:

  • C++, Python, Java, or Ruby

  • Knowledge/experience with REST API

  • Knowledge of best practices including code reviews, testing, coding standards, source control (Git and GitHub), and CI/CD

  • Entity framework

  • AWS technologies such as SQS, Lambda, RDS, ElastiCache with Postgres

  • Full stack development and DevOps

  • Able to work independently as well as the ability to pair with other team members
