AON Property Broker Manager - Large Accounts in Chicago, Illinois

How this opportunity is different

Lead the Chicago property team, as well as serve as a Senior Broker handling a book of business, reporting into the a Region Property Leader.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Lead and develop a team of property brokers and associates, including, goal setting, career development, training, expense and travel management.

  • Engagement in attracting, hiring and onboarding of new colleagues.

  • Serve as carrier liaison for key market relations in the local geography.

  • Management of book and participation in RFPs for new business opportunities.

  • Own the strategy and design of for large and/or heavily catastrophic exposed accounts, including single placement, layered and global accounts.

  • Act as the primary negotiator for own book in acquiring the most appropriate carrier coverage from a variety of insurance carriers. As part of the client facing team, along with Producers and/or Account Executives, participates in client discussions to understand needs and develop strategies.

  • Identifies and analyses client exposures and determines which markets to utilize, ensuring thorough evaluation of qualified companies in the marketplace.

  • Finalize all risk transfer quotes and present detailed comparison of program options as part of the client proposal presentation.

  • Work in conjunction with Brokers and Associate Brokers and assist in problem solving on difficult client challenges or assist in market escalation across the book.

    Core Proficiencies

  • Team management experience preferred.

  • Collaboration skills to successfully lead broker teams and leverage National Practice.

  • Detailed knowledge of property insurance marketplace, products and services, with strong business relationships with key underwriters.

  • Network of carrier relationships.

  • Strong negotiations skills.

  • Strong oral presentation skills and ability to clearly articulate in written form.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products.

    Pay Transparency Laws:

    The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $165,000 to $200,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

    This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
